OctoCounts shows the line counts GitHub hides. Paste any public GitHub repository URL and it downloads the source archive, runs tokei, and returns files, total lines, code lines, comments, blanks, and per-language totals without cloning. Every report is pinned to an exact commit and cached, so repeat views are instant. Reports export as text, JSON, or a PNG share card, embed in any README as a live badge, and compare side by side across about 90 curated repo pairs. It also ships as a browser extension for Chrome, Edge, and Firefox, a CLI (npx octocounts), a GitHub Action, a public API, and an MCP server for AI coding agents. Free and open source under MIT.
